Welcome to the Media Room
The Media Relations Section plays a key role within the Police Service in terms of building and maintaining the public's understanding and support of our services. Our goal is to provide timely and accurate information to the public, via the media. This is done by issuing news releases, holding news conferences, responding to media inquiries and arranging interviews with our officers and personnel.
In 2006, the Media Relations Section was restructured to reflect the increased demands on the Ottawa Police Service for media relations and the evolution of the news business.
Media Relations spokespersons:
Cst. Henri Lanctôt has been a police officer since January 1984 joining the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Ottawa. He worked in various sections such as property and personal security for the residence of the Governor General at Rideau Hall and the Prime Minister of Canada. He also worked in the Traffic Section and the Federal Investigation Section. He joined the Ottawa Police Service in March 2000 where he worked as a patrol officer, school resource officer and a community police officer. Henri looks forward to an exciting challenge as the new media relations officer, starting January 2011, and hopes to bring his wealth of experience to the community.
