About The OPS

Since its creation in 1995, the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) has dedicated itself to providing excellent service.
Fast Facts:
  • More than 1,350 officers and 575 civilians work for OPS.
  • Almost 40% of Ottawa Police employees are female, working in all sections of the Service including the tactical teamdive team, and executive office.Visit our Sections and Units page.
  • In 2011, OPS received 939,598 calls, which included calls to 911, our Call Centre, Info Desk, and Switchboard. Of those calls, 78,162 were classified as 'Priority 1' calls to 911 (which includes emergency or life threatening situations).
