• Find a Police Station

  Locate a Police Station near you or visit any of our Community Police Centres.

• File a Police Report

  The Ottawa Police cannot take information for a police report by email.
  To file a police report, please contact our Call Centre at 613-236-1222 ext 7300 or visit any of our Police Stations.
  Traffic accident reports cannot be taken over the phone, accident reports must be made in person at any of our Police Stations:

  • A police report is not required if damage to all vehicles is under $1,000.
  • If there are no injuries, but the vehicle(s) cannot be driven, call 613-230-6211
  • If the vehicle(s) can be safely driven and there are no injuries, drive all vehicles to the same Police Station to file a report in person.

• Make a Complaint about Service Received

  A new complaint process has been implemented and the Office of the Independent Police Review Director (OIRPD) officially opened.

  The OIPRD is an independent arms-length agency of the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General. The OIPRD provides an objective, impartial office to accept,  process and oversee the investigation of public complaints against Ontario’s police.

  Complaint forms are available at the OIPRD and on their website, all Service Ontario locations, all police stations and in many community centres and legal clinics. For further information on the new process, you may contact the OIPRD using the following:

• Make a Traffic Complaint

  Dangerous Driving

  a) To report a dangerous driver, you must phone our Call Centre at 613-236-1222, extension 7300. Please visit the Traffic Section for details on what information you will need to provide. 

   

  b) If you are a witness to reoccuring traffic violations in a particular location (ex: drivers ignoring a stop sign in your neighbourhood), please fill out the email form below or phone our Call Centre at 613-236-1222, extension 7300 or visit any of our police stations .

   

  Reporting a traffic accident : Accident reports must be made in person

  • A police report is not required if damage (to all vehicles) is under $1,000.
  • If there are injuries and the vehicle(s) cannot be driven...call  9-1-1   
  • If there are no injuries, but the vehicle(s) cannot be driven... call 613-230-6211
  • If the vehicle(s) can be safely driven and there are no injuries, as soon as possible, or when directed by police, drive all vehicles to the same Police Station to file a report in person.

  Parking or traffic tickets : If you received a parking or traffic ticket and need more information, please visit the City of Ottawa website.

  Common bylaw issues (examples: noise, dogs, property issues...)

  Graffiti clean up: If you'd like to report graffiti for clean up, please visit the City of Ottawa website. If the graffiti is hate-crime related, please file a report by calling the Ottawa Police Service at 613-230-6211.
