FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Monday, January 25, 2016      5:10pm

(Ottawa)—This evening, Ottawa Police Service Chief Charles Bordeleau will present two cheques totalling $42,500 each to the Ottawa Food Bank and the Caring and Sharing Exchange at the Ottawa Police Services Board’s meeting. The cheques represent the total funds raised at the sixth annual Police Gala held on Saturday, November 7, 2015, at the Shaw Centre.

The Ottawa Police has been hosting the Gala since 2010 and has raised $545,000 to date.

“Every year our Service looks forward to the Ottawa Police Gala,” said Ottawa Police Chief Charles Bordeleau. “It’s an evening that celebrates our police service and our community, and has a lasting impact beyond the event itself through the funds we raise for local charities delivering much needed services and programs to our community.”

Applications from local registered charities interested in becoming the next charity of choice are currently being accepted. Interested applicants can complete and submit a Charitable Application Form. The deadline for applications is January 31, 2016.

The OPS would like to acknowledge this past year’s Gala sponsors for their commitment and leadership, particularly the two Platinum Sponsors TELUS and the Barley Mow.

The seventh annual Police Gala will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2016, at the Shaw Centre. Tickets for this event will go on sale in the spring.

Ottawa Police now accepting applications for 7th annual OPS Gala

(Ottawa)— The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) is currently accepting applications from local registered charities interested in becoming the next charity of choice for the 2016 OPS Gala taking place November 5, 2016, at the Shaw Centre.

Applications will be scored by a committee that includes the Platinum sponsors. The final decision on which organizations will receive the support is made by the Ottawa Police Service.

The selected charity will be designated as the recipient of the proceeds from the event.

Interested applicants must complete and submit a Charitable Application Form by January 31, 2016.

Now in its seventh year, the Ottawa Police Service Gala is an opportunity to raise funds for important causes in the community, while bringing the Service together with the people it serves. In past years, the Gala has helped support Project S.T.E.P, the Ottawa Mission, the Youth Services Bureau, Christie Lake Kids, the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa and most recently, the Ottawa Food Bank and the Caring and Sharing Exchange.

The amount of proceeds raised from the most recent Gala will be announced during the January 25, 2016 meeting of the Ottawa Police Services Board.
