(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service Fraud Unit is advising the community of recent scams involving phone numbers similar to the Ottawa Police Service, including 9-1-1 and our main phone number, 613-236-1222.

Six months after a dog attack, Constable Amanda Munro is back at work on light duties with plans to return to the road later this fall.
“I was lucky, I didn’t need surgery,” said Amanda, who received serious injuries to her left arm on March 1, 2019 while accompanying another agency to a residence in Vanier. She had no choice but to shoot the animal with her service firearm.

Robbery on Murray Street – suspect to identify

(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a male suspect in a robbery that occurred on August 27, 2019 at 10:15pm in the 200 block of Murray Street.
Two male suspects met the victim who had agreed to sell a few items, and a dispute ensued.

In August, east end investigators were alerted to someone repeatedly planting tin can lids in the sand at a children’s park in Heatherington. It was suspected this was being done with the intent to injure children playing at the park. Thanks to timely reporting, police caught and charged the person responsible before anyone was harmed.

This Saturday marks one year since four tornadoes touched down in the Ottawa area, with devastating effects in several neighbourhoods, including Dunrobin, Arlington Woods and Gatineau. For Ottawa Police Staff Sergeant Paul Wilson, he remembers it like it was yesterday.
