Update: man wanted in Marketplace Avenue Robbery arrested and charged

(Ottawa) –The Ottawa Police would like to advise the public that the man wanted in relation to the April 5th robbery in the 1-100 block of Marketplace Avenue has been arrested.

Yesterday, at approximately 6:30pm, Ryan Patrick STRONG, 35 years old, was located and arrested without incident by Frontline officers. 

STRONG is charged with:

  • Disguise with Intent
  • Robbery
  • Failure to Comply with a Probation Order 

He is scheduled to appear in court today.

(Ottawa) –The Ottawa Police is seeking public assistance to locate a man wanted in relation to a robbery that occurred on April 5th, in the 1-100 block of Marketplace Avenue. 

Ryan Patrick STRONG, 35 years old,  is wanted for Robbery, Disguise with Intent and Breach of Probation.

STRONG is described as a Caucasian man, 5’8” (173cm), 141 lbs (64kg), with light brown hair and light brown facial hair. (See photo)

The investigation is ongoing.

Suspect to identify following an attempted Robbery on Marketplace Avenue - new photo

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police West Criminal Investigations Section is investigating an attempted robbery that occurred on Sunday, April 5, 2020 at approximately 8:39pm. 

A woman was waiting at a bus stop in the 1 to 100 block of Marketplace Avenue in Barrhaven when a male suspect came running towards her and grabbed her purse. In the process, the man broke the strap off the purse but was not able to steal it from the victim.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian man, 5’7” to 5’8” (170 to 173cm), medium build. He was wearing black running shoes, khaki pants, a dark blue hoodie bearing a Crooks & Castles-style logo at the front and a black baseball hat with a solid red peak.  He was also carrying a black backpack (see photos). 

There are no reported injuries. The man fled towards Greenbank Road and Strandherd Drive.
