Pendants recovered, laptop still missing

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service Central Break and Enter Unit would like to thank the public for its overwhelming response in assisting us with recovering the three keepsake pendants containing ashes of a deceased. These precious items containing a dearly missed and loved one were returned to an overwhelmed and grateful family. Without the assistance of the public in this matter, this family would not have had their dearly departed repatriated. 

The police are asking the public if they have information regarding a missing laptop containing over 700 musical scores described as: 

LENOVO B50-45 NOTEBOOK (MODEL #59441916) 

Anyone with information regarding the missing laptop is asked to please contact the Central Break and Enter Unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 4533.

Man charged following several Break and Enters in Vanier

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service Break and Enter section charged a man in connection with a number of break and enters to commercial venues in the Vanier community in January 2019, including a church and a funeral home. The man stole personal items including credit cards, which were then used to make purchases.

In one of the incidents, the accused stole three keepsake pendants containing ashes of a deceased. 

In another incident, a laptop containing over 700 musical scores was taken. 

Steve GEROVAC, 43 years old, of Ottawa has been charged with:

  • Breaking and Entering
  • Use of a stolen credit card x2 

GEROVAC is scheduled to appear in court on April 9, 2019. 

The police are asking the public if they have information regarding any of these precious and irreplaceable items that were taken, to please contact the Central Break and Enter Unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 4533.
