FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Wednesday, February 2, 2022  7:10pm 

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service continues its investigation of the desecration of the National War Memorial on Saturday, January 29.

Investigators are asking the public to review the photographs and video of the suspect we are seeking to identify. We wish to credit The Sun for the video and photos.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian woman, average build, wearing a light colored winter jacket with some yellow on the front, a black tuque with symbol on the front, black winter pants and grey and white shoes. She was carrying a black backpack.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of this person is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Central Investigations Section at 613-236-1222, ext. 5166.

We have been clear that evidentiary teams that will be videotaping all aspects of the demonstration. We are acting on evidence of violence, hate crimes and unlawful behaviour.

There will be consequences for anyone contravening City By-laws, Highway Traffic Act and Criminal Code legislation.

Three men have been charged with criminal offences in relation to the demonstration.

There are 25 active investigations including the desecration of the National War Memorial, and incidents at the Shepherds of Good Hope.

Please Report Crimes

If you have been a victim of crime, please report it. We are aware that many crimes have not been reported including assaults, hate crimes, sexual assault, spitting and other threatening and criminal behaviour.

We have intelligence assets and investigators who will be working throughout the entire event and in the days, weeks and months following, should there be any violence and acts of criminality associated with the demonstration.

Our investigators must have a formal complaint to investigate and pursue these acts.
