Two men charged in Barrhaven vehicle theft

(Ottawa) – In recent weeks, the Ottawa Police Service has noted an increase in thefts of specific models of high-end luxury vehicles in the City and Frontline Patrol Officers have increased their vigilance in regards to these targeted thefts.  

This morning, at approximately 3:49am, a patrol officer noticed two suspicious vehicles at the intersection of Woodroffe Avenue and Longfields Drive – a Toyota Highlander that was being followed closely by a Honda Civic with no license plate. 

Responding officers initiated traffic stops for these vehicles at two separate locations. The investigation revealed that the Toyota had been stolen earlier that morning. 

The West Criminal Investigations Unit has charged Krishan KUMAR, 19 years old and Rajveer JARYAL 18 years old both from Montréal with the following offences:

  • Theft of motor vehicle
  • Conspiracy to commit an indictable offence
  • Mischief under $5000$

They were both released on a Promise to appear in court, JARYAL on November 25 and KUMAR on November 26.
