Loaded crime gun seized during proactive patrol

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Thursday, October 15, 2020       4:15pm 

(Ottawa) – Last night, Frontline patrol Officers seized a crime gun while conducting a proactive patrol on Reid Avenue. 

At approximately 8pm, an Officer was on foot patrol through an area located in the 1 to 100 block of Reid Avenue. Police have received complaints from the property owner regarding illegal activity on the property. During the patrol the Officer interacted with an individual who was found to be carrying a loaded 9mm handgun. The gun was seized and the man was arrested without incident. 

Abdraman ATEM, 23 years old, of Ottawa was charged with:

-        Careless use of a firearm

-        Possession of a weapon

-        Carrying a concealed weapon

-        Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon X2

-        Possession of a loaded prohibited weapon

-        Possession of a prohibited weapon

-        Possession of a firearm and ammunition contrary to a prohibition

-        Failure to comply with a court order

-        Unauthorized possession of a prohibited device

He was scheduled to appear in court today.

These seizures bring our crime guns seized total to 93 for 2020.
