Ottawa Police Service Member charged by OPP

(Ottawa) – In July of 2018, the Ottawa Police Service requested that the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conduct an independent investigation into audio recordings that surfaced on social media.

Today, the OPP charged Ottawa Police Sgt. Matthew Skof with Breach of Trust and Obstruct Justice contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The member has now been suspended. 

Any questions related to the investigation or the criminal charges should be directed to the OPP. 

As the matter is now before the courts, our Service will have no further comment.
