Deputy Chief, Investigations & Support

Uday Singh Jaswal is an Ottawa native who has served as a police officer for 25 years, including two years as a Deputy Chief with the Durham Regional Police Service.

Uday’s proven leadership and his unique combination of operational, investigative and community policing experience, with two Ontario police services, make him a visionary and innovative leader who understands the rapidly changing community safety needs of communities and residents across Ottawa.

In addition to his work in policing, Uday is a devoted community builder. He is a member of the the Board of Directors for both the Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa and the Community Addictions Peer Support Association.

Uday has several advanced degrees and certifications including a Master of Public Administration Degree from Queen’s University, in Kingston, Ontario, and the Canadian Certification in Risk Management. Uday also lectures regularly, nationally at the Canadian Police College and internationally, at the National Police Academy of the Indian Police Service.
