One web cam, countless peeping toms.

What is hacking?

Hacking is the practice of intercepting access to computer networks, programs, webcams, files, websites, or accounts without the consent of the owner.

Has your email or website account, been hacked?

If it's email, voicemail, wifi network, social media profile or other account:

  • This is a common complaint and it is more likely that someone has obtained your password. Report it to the affected site involved so they can change the password and return control of your account to you.
  • Unprotected wireless networks allow unauthorized users easy access to your personal data and unlimited use of your Internet access. Prevent unauthorized access to your wireless computer network by enabling encryption. For more information on this, check the manual that came with your router or contact your internet service provider.

If it's a Website:

  • If your computer or web site has been broken into, file a report at 613-236-1222 ext 7300. You will be asked if you can prove who is responsible by providing an IP address of the suspect.
