Community Police Service Awards

Since 1995, members of the community and the police service have been publicly recognized for their assistance to others in the previous calendar year.  The awards are categorized in the form of Valour, Merit and Community Service.  

Here were 2019’s recipients:

Certificate of Merit: 

  • Sheila Joly, for helping to locate a missing elderly man
  • Justin Villeneuve, for rescuing a man collapsed in the snow
  • Krista Stuart, for helping to find a missing child
  • Megan Macphee, for helping to find a missing child
  • Joseph Macphee, for helping to find a missing child
  • Nancy Macphee, for helping to find a missing child
  • Igor Tomanic, for assisting with CPR on an unconscious man
  • Marc Preuss, for assisting with CPR on an unconscious man
  • Marjorie McCoriston, for assisting with CPR on an unconscious man

Certificate of Valour:

  • Jamie Mailman, for intervening in a robbery and assisting police
  • André Bourgon, for making a citizen’s arrest after a store robbery
  • Lorne Segal, helping an elderly woman recover her purse
  • Cassidy Lalonde, assisting an unconscious male

Special recognition

  • Councillor Eli El-Chantiry, for his service as a member of the Board (2003-2018)
  • Councillor Keith Egli, for his service as a member of the Board (2018-2019)
