OPP Gun Amnesty 2018

As part of our partnership with the Ontario Provincial Police, we will be offering support to its Gun Amnesty Program during the month of April, 2018.

The amnesty program is an opportunity for Ottawa-area residents to safely get rid of unwanted firearms, and help to prevent them being introduced into circulation after they are stolen in residential break-ins.

If you have an unwanted firearm that you wish to surrender, please:

1. Call us at (613) 236-1222, extension 7300 and register a report with us.

  • Your call will be directed to an agent, or you will have the option to leave a message and someone will call you back.
  • Your “report” will be a simple registration of your address so we know where to come pick up the firearm.
  • An officer will be assigned your file and come and visit you at your house to safely remove the weapon.
  • Please leave your weapon in a safe place; the officer attending will retrieve it.

The gun amnesty program runs from April 1 to 30, 2018. For more information you can visit the OPP website at: www.OPP.ca/gunamnesty.

If you have questions or concerns, please email us at info@ottawapolice.ca

Thank you for helping to make Ottawa safer.
