FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Monday, December 21, 2020    12:48pm

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Services Board (OPSB) approved a cost-recovery fee structure model for all police information-related services.

Effective January 1, 2021, it will cost $66 to obtain a criminal records check, criminal records and judicial matters check, and a vulnerable sector check.  Adoption application fees will cost $108, and volunteer checks will increase slightly to $20.40.

Please note that while Ottawa remains under Orange or higher COVID-19 levels, as determined by the province, volunteer fees will be waived.

Rates for police reports have also risen slightly, with motor vehicle reports costing $200.88, collision reconstruction reports $2,245, general occurrence reports $58, fingerprinting $50, and a pardon application $66, not including HST. FOI requests will remain $5 per request. To learn more about all the rates associated with different reports, please visit the Police Report web page on our website

Additionally, Paid Duties have increased incrementally, with Tier 1 constable hourly rates set at $89.66 (or $100.87/hr for Tier 2), sergeant Tier 1 hourly rates at $101.69 (or $114.39/hr for Tier 2), and staff sergeant Tier 1 hourly rates at $111.18 (or $125.05/hr for Tier 2). Hourly rates for canine, police vehicles, boats or ATVs remain the same as 2020.

This new fee structure aligns with budget estimates that were presented to the Ottawa Police Services Board and approved in November and reflects a cost-recovery increase only.
