One man charged in the Champagne Avenue South homicide and one man wanted

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Monday, February 12, 2024     2:20 pm

(Ottawa) – On Friday evening, the Ottawa Police Service arrested a 28 year old man of Ottawa. He was charged with Accessory after the fact to murder, Section 240 of the CCC, in the homicide on Champagne Avenue South. He appeared in court on Saturday, February 10th and was remanded into custody.

Wanted male Gibriil BAKAL, 29 years old, of Edmonton remains at large.

Wanted Person to locate in homicide investigation on Champagne Avenue South

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service Homicide Unit is seeking public assistance to locate a male wanted in relation to a homicide on Champagne Avenue South on Monday, January 29, 2024.

Wanted male is identified as Gibriil BAKAL, 29 years old, of Edmonton. He is wanted for first-degree murder. He is described as a black male, 6’1 in height and 190 lbs.

Homicide Investigation on Champagne Avenue South

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service Homicide Unit is investigating a homicide death following a shooting in the 100 block of Champagne Avenue South that occurred on January 29th at approximately 1:15pm.

The victim, who succumbed to his injuries in the hospital yesterday, has been identified as Jama Roble, 33 years old, of Ottawa.

No further details are available at this time.
