We are now accepting applications for our 12th Annual Gala

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) is pleased to announce that it is now accepting applications for its 12th annual Gala to be held November 4, 2023, at the Shaw Centre.

To qualify, your organization must be:

  •  A registered charity; and
  • Provide services to Ottawa's residents.

We invite those who qualify to fill out the application form before 4 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2023, and let us know about the important work you are doing in the city.

While we can select only two beneficiaries every year to sponsor, we want to thank everyone who applies, and also thank you for your commitment in making a difference in the lives of residents in Ottawa.

Ottawa Police Service reaches $1 million dollars raised for local charities at Gala

On Saturday, October 15, 2022, the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) celebrated its 11th Gala, raising an estimated $50,000 for Mamawi Together and YouTurn Youth Services.

Since its inception, the OPS Gala has raised just over $1 million for local charities, helping organizations across Ottawa help those most in need.

Sponsorship

If you are interested in becoming a corporate sponsor, please email the OPS Gala Committee team. Your investment as a business helps to promote these types of initiatives that better-serve all residents of Ottawa.

Gala beneficiaries

Since 2010, the Gala has raised over $1 Million for Ottawa-area charities.

Every year local charities are selected as beneficiaries of the Gala fundraising. The charities are picked because of shared values with the OPS, a willingness to pitch in and help, as well an established network within the community to help with the fundraising efforts.

We will post information here early next year when we are accepting applications for the 2023 beneficiary!

As a beneficiary, charities can embark on some ambitious projects that had been put on hold due to funding constraints.

Services provided by these organizations are vital to community health, safety and well-being and it is our honour to work with them, developing partnerships that last beyond the Gala itself.

The Gala is also an opportunity to celebrate the hard work and professionalism of the men and women of the OPS, from civilian to sworn members.

“It's an investment for us,” said Inspector Jim Elves, OPS Gala Co-Chair. “We value what these charities bring to the table.”

Supporting Youturn Youth Support Services and Màmawi Together

The 2022 Gala beneficiaries were Youturn Youth Support Services and Màmawi Together.

Youturn Youth Support Services is focused on providing individualized services to help youth, with complex needs, develop skills that will help them thrive. This includes bilingual 24-hour on-call support for youth in Ottawa, Stormont, Dundas, Glengarry, Renfrew and Prescott-Russell. The program develops a tailored approach for each youth, coordinating with family and caregivers in order to ensure full access to a wide array of integrated services.

Màmawi Together's mission has been to promote understanding of Indigenous peoples culture and history, promote better relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people, and, ultimately, Reconciliation. It has received support from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and most recently worked with the OPS to host a spiritual cleansing of the National War Memorial and the Aboriginal Veterans' monuments.

“Both of these organizations have developed programs that will better serve our communities, by providing key supports to our city's youth and increasing inclusivity through programming that helps to enhance our collective understanding of Indigenous history and culture,” said Interim Chief Steve Bell. “We are proud to partner with both of these charitable organizations.”
