(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police is investigating an assault that occurred on April 12, between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. near the intersection of Metcalfe Street and Laurier Avenue West.

A group of 3-5 individuals were reportedly verbally harassing an individual when a bystander intervened. The bystander was then physically assaulted by members of the group.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Wednesday, May 21, 2025          4:10 pm  

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service Homicide Unit has arrested and charged a woman in relation to the arson that killed 51-year-old Ottokie Kelly on October 8, 2024.

Naveen ALKHALIL, 47-years-old, of Ottawa, has been charged with the following:

  • First-degree murder
  • Arson disregard for human life
  • Arson causing bodily harm
  • Arson causing property damage
  • Possession of incendiary material for arson

She will appear in court later today.
