Man charged in Workplace fatality

(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service West Criminal Investigative Section has charged a man in relation to the death of an employee in 2023.
On May 5th, 2023, Nicholas Chenier, 20-years-old, of Ottawa, died as a result of injuries sustained while working at a residential property in the south end of Ottawa. The deceased’s name is being released with permission from the family.
An investigation into the circumstances of the death was opened. The Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development of Ontario conducted its own investigation into this matter.
Yesterday, the Ottawa Police Service charged Steven DEANS, 38-years-old of Ottawa, a manager with Best Green Hedges Inc. with one count of Criminal negligence causing death.
He will appear in court at a later date.
