Shooting on Winterset Road – charges laid

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police West Criminal Investigative Section investigated a shooting that occurred in the evening of March 18th on Winterset Road in Kanata where an individual has been arrested and charged.
At approximately 6:30 pm police responded to multiple calls for shots heard in the area, upon arrival one individual was arrested.
There have been no reported injuries.
A search warrant was executed at a residence in the 500 block of Winterset Road, a loaded firearm with a prohibited high-capacity magazine was located and seized along with controlled substances and a quantity of Canadian currency.
Aurelien BOUTALEB, 21-years-old, of Ottawa, has been charged with multiple firearms and Controlled Drug and Substances Act offences and failure to comply with a release order.
He appeared in court yesterday and remains in custody.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking anyone with information related to this event, cell phone footage, or any other video of the incident who has not yet spoken with investigators to contact the Guns and Gangs Unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 5050.

Shooting Incident
(Ottawa) — Just before 6:30 pm on March 18, 2024, frontline members of the Ottawa Police Service responded to a shooting on Winterset Rd.
There were no injuries in the incident and there is no known risk to public safety.
On scene a 21-year-old was arrested for discharging a firearm.
Police are still investigating the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact our West District Investigations Unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 2666.
