Photo released as police continue to seek witnesses in March sexual assault investigation

(Ottawa)—Investigators are releasing a photo of the accused for public awareness, given the vulnerability of potential victims and the possibility there may be additional victims.

David CHEDDESINGH is described as 50 years old and is known to wear black-framed glasses.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit at 613-236-1222, extension 5944, or email [email protected], and reference case number 26-81161.

Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477 or at crimestoppers.ca.

Charges laid in March sexual assault investigation: police continue to search for witnesses

(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) has charged a 50-year-old man in connection with a sexual assault that occurred late Saturday, March 28, on Colonel By Drive, in the area beneath the Mackenzie King Bridge.

The assault took place between approximately 11:00 p.m. and midnight. The assault was subsequently reported to the OPS, and the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit investigated the incident. 

During the investigation, officers identified the suspect as 50-year-old David CHEDDESINGH and arrested him on May 25th.

The investigation is ongoing.

Investigators believe there could be additional victims.

Police are asking anyone who may have been driving along Colonel By Drive during that time and has dash cam footage, or anyone who was in the area and may have witnessed anything suspicious, to come forward.
