CPF and OPS help Ottawa woman deliver pumpkins in Lowertown neighbourhood
For years, community leader Sandra Pilote and her neighbours in Lowertown brought a touch of magic to their streets each Halloween. Through their community group, they gathered donations and purchased pumpkins so that every child could take part in the seasonal fun.
“It was something small, but it brought people together,” Sandra recalls. “The kids loved decorating their pumpkins — it made the neighbourhood feel alive.”
This year, the Capital Prosperity Foundation stepped up with OPS to bring Sandra’s initiative back to life.
With support from the Centretown Community Police Officers, Sandra received funding for over 80 pumpkins, which they are delivering together today, just days before Halloween.
“We give the kids markers to decorate their pumpkins,” Pilote said with a smile. “They should all have decorated pumpkins on their doorstep for Halloween. We made sure of that!”
Through her dedication and partnership with the community, Sandra continues to prove that even the simplest acts — a pumpkin, a marker, a smile — can help keep the spirit of togetherness alive.Visit Capital Prosperity Foundation’s website to find out more about their work for Ottawa children.
