East District Community Policing - Building Stronger, Safer Communities in East Ottawa
Last week, East District Community Police Officers met with the newly formed East Ottawa Neighbourhood Watch Committee, a collaborative group made up of nine community associations from across East Ottawa.
This committee came together to learn from one another’s experiences, share best practices, and strengthen neighbourhood connections. Together, we discussed local concerns, emerging trends, and ways we can continue working as a team to keep our communities safe.
Why Neighbourhood Watch Matters
Neighbourhood Watch empowers residents to become the eyes and ears of their community. It strengthens communication, encourages problem solving, and helps identify suspicious activity early. When neighbours look out for one another, it reduces opportunities for crime and increases community confidence.
How OPS East District Supports Neighbourhood Watch
The East District Community Policing Team supports this new committee by:
- Sharing up-to-date information on crime trends
- Offering ongoing guidance and engagement opportunities
- Helping connect residents with the right resources and partners
For more information on how to form a Neighbouhood Watch Program in your neighborhood please contact your local Community Police Officer.

“The only way to effectively address crime and social disorder is through a collaborative approach. When the community and police work together, we build safer, stronger neighbourhoods for everyone.”
We’re proud to work alongside community leaders who are committed to making East Ottawa a safer place to live, work, and thrive.
