Man charged in homicide investigation

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Thursday, February 12, 2026    3:26 p.m. 

(Ottawa)—The Homicide Unit has charged a man following the homicide of Majed Al-Ar.

Hussein Kaddoura, 22, of Ottawa, is charged with:

  • Manslaughter
  • Kidnapping
  • Possession of a Restricted Firearm

He will appear in court this afternoon.

A second man arrested in connection with this incident has been released pending further investigation. They sustained a non-life-threatening injury during the incident and were treated and released from hospital.

The investigation is ongoing.

Bankfield Road homicide investigation update

(Ottawa) – The Homicide Unit has identified the deceased as Majed Al-Ar, 19, of Ottawa.  

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Homicide Unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 5493.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Wednesday, February 11, 2026     6:49 p.m. 

Homicide investigation; two in custody

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service is investigating a homicide that occurred just before 4:30 p.m. today near the intersection of Bankfield Road and Prince of Wales Drive. 

One man has died as a result of the shooting incident. 

Two suspects are currently in custody. 

This marks the city’s third homicide of 2026.

The victim is not being identified at this time pending next of kin notification.  

Bankfield Road will be closed between Prince of Wales Drive and First Line Road for several hours. 

At this time, there is no indication of an ongoing risk to the public. Further information will be shared as it becomes available.
