Interservice Challenge: A Week to Celebrate and Give Back

Back to Search
An Ottawa ambulance, an Ottawa fire truck and an Ottawa Police cruiser.

Each year, the city of Ottawa police communicators spend a week celebrating National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week (NPSTW).

This year, from April 13 to 19, we recognize the dedicated professionals behind the headsets who are often the first point of contact in moments that matter most. It’s a week filled with appreciation, recognition, and a healthy dose of fun from colleagues and partners across the city.

For the past four years, that spirit of teamwork has extended into a friendly challenge between Ottawa Police Service Communications, Ottawa Fire Services, and Ottawa Paramedics: a lighthearted competition to see who can raise the most in support of meaningful community causes.

Past recipients of this challenge have included the Ottawa Food Bank, the Ottawa Humane Society, and CHEO. Each year has brought strong participation and even stronger community impact... and bragging rights for the victors.

After careful consideration, and in light of recent events, it was decided that this year’s challenge will support the Ottawa First Responders Foundation. All three services are continuing the tradition of collaboration and shared commitment to community wellbeing.

The challenge runs from now until the end of Telecommunicator Week on April 18. As always, the real winners are the communities these funds support, but let’s see who takes the title this year.
