Joint investigation results in child luring charges against New York man
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Wednesday, March 11, 2026 12:15 p.m.
(Ottawa)— The Ottawa Police Service (OPS), in collaboration with the New York State Police, investigated a 20-year-old man from New York for child luring offences.
The investigation began in September 2025 and focused on allegations that 20-year-old Brayden BERGFJORD lured a 12-year-old child from Ottawa using online methods.
The OPS Internet Child Exploitation Unit, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Section, and Digital Forensic Section collaborated to provide the New York State Police with evidence used to execute a search warrant at BERGFJORD’s residence in New York.
Following the investigation, the New York State Police laid charges against BERGFJORD under U.S. law, including:
- Disseminating Indecent Material to Minors – 1st Degree (D Felony)
- Criminal Solicitation – 3rd Degree (E Felony)
- Acting in a Manner Injurious to a Child Less Than 17 (A Misdemeanor)
Investigators believe BERGFJORD may have additional victims in Ottawa. He used the following usernames on various online communication and social media platforms:
- XEO-ROYAL
- earthlimits
- Chromedhitta
- purplewrld
- coolj_55
