Merivale Road shooting investigation
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Monday, July 6, 2026 12:45 p.m.
(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) Guns and Gangs Unit is investigating a shooting that occurred in the 1600 block of Merivale Road.
On Saturday, July 4, at approximately 7:20 p.m., an altercation occurred between two large groups. Shots were fired into a vehicle of people involved in the altercation, and one passenger was struck. They were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Two people were taken into custody at the scene, but later released pending further investigation.
