Murder-suicide investigation
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Monday, June 29, 2026 1:54 p.m.
(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) Homicide Unit is investigating the deaths of two children found at a home in south Ottawa.
Today at approximately 10 a.m., police responded to a residence on Mandevilla Crescent for a wellness check.
Tragically, two boys, aged 7 and 12, were found deceased.
Next of kin notifications are being conducted, and the names of the deceased are not being released at this time.
The investigation is ongoing and complex. The OPS is working closely with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) on related aspects of the case.
OPP are currently holding two scenes in eastern Ontario that are believed to be connected to this investigation.
These include a business fire in Iroquois, Ontario, earlier this morning, and a vehicle fire reported shortly after 5:30 a.m. in the Kemptville carpool lot located at Highway 416 and Rideau River Road.
A deceased adult male, the children’s father, was located in the vehicle fire.
Investigators continue to assess the connections between these incidents and do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the public.
