Ottawa Police Service joins the community at the 2025 Canada Army Run
Members of the Ottawa Police Service — both sworn and civilian — proudly laced up to take part in the Canada Army Run alongside fellow community members last Sunday.
The event returned to Ottawa on September 21, 2025, bringing together soldiers, veterans, and civilians for a weekend of running, remembrance, and pride.
This year marked the 18th annual edition of the signature Canadian Army event. Pre-race activities kicked off on September 19, filling downtown Ottawa with energy and community spirit.
On race day, more than 15,000 participants gathered near Ottawa City Hall to take on the 5K, 10K, Half-Marathon, Sergeant Major’s Challenge, or Commander’s Challenge. The races began with the ceremonial cannon blast from Cartier Square Drill Hall.
OPS officers worked throughout the event to keep the route safe for runners, walkers, and rollers, while cheering on participants and ensuring a fun, family-friendly experience for all.
Chief Warrant Officer Robin described the importance of the event, noting that the Army Run “engages Canadians from all walks of life in a spirit of camaraderie and community and allows everyone to challenge themselves while showing support for the military.”
Since its launch in 2008, the Canada Army Run has raised over $5.5 million in support of Soldier On and Support Our Troops, programs that assist ill and injured military members, veterans, and their families. This year’s event alone is expected to raise more than $400,000.
The Ottawa Police Service extends sincere thanks to all members who participated in this year’s run, as well as to the officers who worked the event. We’ll see you all at the starting line next year!
