Ottawa Police Take the Plunge for Special Olympics Ontario

The Ottawa Police Service proudly hosted another successful Polar Plunge in support of Special Olympics Ontario, with members, community partners, and supporters coming together in a show of courage and community spirit.

Thanks to the generosity of participants, donors and sponsors, this year’s event raised more than $63,000 for Special Olympics Ontario and its athletes and families across the province. These funds will provide year-round sport training and competition opportunities, empowering athletes to build confidence, develop skills and experience the many benefits of sport.

This year’s plunge was hosted at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa, marking an exciting new partnership that helped bring the community together in a welcoming and energetic setting.

The afternoon began with remarks from Mayor Mark Sutcliffe and Chief Eric Stubbs, with Chief Stubbs leading by example as the first to take the plunge alongside Ottawa’s Har Rock Hotel and Casino President, Christine Crump. The Glee Ceptional Choir energized the crowd, and Special Olympics athlete Kate Brubacher delivered the Athlete’s Oath — a powerful reminder of the determination and spirit behind the movement.

Teams and individual plungers stepped forward one by one, cheered on by colleagues, friends, family members and athletes. While each plunge lasted only seconds, the collective impact of their commitment will be felt throughout the year.

The longstanding relationship between the Ottawa Police Service and Special Olympics Ontario continues to demonstrate the power of collaboration, leadership and inclusion in our community. With the dedication of participants and partners, this year’s Polar Plunge was once again a tremendous success.
