Two drivers charged with stunt driving in separate traffic stops

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Thursday, October 22, 2026 3:20 p.m.

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) has charged two drivers with stunt driving following separate traffic stops in Ottawa over the past two days.

On October 21, officers with the East District Traffic Unit stopped a vehicle travelling 116 km/h in a 60 km/h zone on Riverside Drive near Hunt Club Road.

The 34-year-old male driver was charged with several offences under the Highway Traffic Act, including stunt driving, speeding, failing to surrender a driver's licence, having an obstructive window coating and failing to display two licence plates.

His driver's licence was suspended for 30 days, and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

In a separate incident on October 22, at approximately 10:50 a.m., officers stopped a vehicle travelling 131 km/h in a 60 km/h zone near Navan Road and Tenth Line Road.

The 45-year-old male driver was charged with stunt driving and speeding.

These incidents come amid a concerning number of recent fatal collisions on Ottawa roads.

The OPS reminds motorists that excessive speed significantly increases the risk of serious injury or death. Drivers are urged to slow down, obey posted speed limits and make responsible choices behind the wheel.

Road safety is everyone's responsibility.
