The Victim Support Unit (VSU) crisis counsellors work with both sworn officers and civilian members to make sure that the best supports and services are provided to victims/survivors of crime and tragic circumstances in a timely manner, through crisis intervention, assessment, and referrals to appropriate community resources.

The Ottawa Police Service's Victim Support Unit partners with Ottawa Victim Services to provide better care with counselling, referrals and practical assistance.

No one expects to experience crime or tragedy. We understand that whether you have been physically hurt, threatened or have been victimized in some way, you may need help and support.

Sexual Assault Survivor Guide

It does not matter what situation you were in, who you were with or where you were. Sexual assault is the fault of the person who commits the crime.

Teddy Bear Program

All Ottawa Police cruisers carry teddy bears so officers arriving at emergency scenes can use them to comfort and distract children from potentially traumatic situations.
