Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act Requests

The Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA) gives individuals the right to access records held by municipal institutions, including the Ottawa Police Service, and ensures the protection of personal information.

Under MFIPPA, you can:

Request Access to Records: Obtain general information or your own personal information.

Correct Personal Information: If you believe it is inaccurate.

Expect Privacy Protection: Institutions must safeguard your personal data.

Making a Freedom of Information Request

Requests must be made in writing and include a $5.00 mandatory, non-refundable application fee. You can submit by mail or in person by appointment. 

In Person

You can submit a Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act form by booking an in person appointment to attend 2670 Queensview Drive.

Please note: Applications for personal information must include the request form, a copy of one piece of government-issued photo identification, and the legislated fee of $5.00.

Requests must be made in writing by completing the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act form and mailing it to:
