Recruit Spotlight: Mihir Samak

Back to Search
Cst. Mihir Samak

I was born and raised in Pune, India.

I hold a Bachelor of Engineering in Information Technology. During my undergraduate studies, I completed a two-year basic military training program with the National Cadet Corps, sparking my long-standing passion for a career in uniform.

After graduating in 2014, I began my career as a software engineer. In 2016, I moved to Canada to pursue a master's degree in biomedical engineering at the University of Ottawa, specializing in biophysics. During my time at uOttawa, I actively volunteered with various student organizations and participated in local events, which allowed me to develop a deep appreciation for Ottawa and its vibrant communities.

Although I continued working in the tech industry after completing my master's, the aspiration to serve in a uniformed role remained ever-present. I was eager to apply the skills I had cultivated through my research and engineering background in a meaningful way.

In 2024, I made the life-changing decision to transition from the private sector to a career in law enforcement and applied to OPS. I am eager to embark on this new journey and serve the community with integrity, compassion, and empathy.

I am fluent in Hindi, Marathi, and English and have a beginner’s proficiency in French and Italian.

Welcome to the Ottawa Police Service, Cst. Samak.
