Recruit Spotlight: Spec. Cst. William Bell
I spent 21 years working in business development and training for an Ottawa-based company that specialized in drones, GPS-guided parachute systems, and navigation aids for parachutists. A big part of my role involved training military personnel around the world to operate that equipment, which was both challenging and incredibly rewarding.
I was born and raised in Scotland and moved to Canada with my family in 2000.
One of my proudest career moments before joining the Ottawa Police Service was serving as the Mission Planning Manager for humanitarian relief missions to Syria during the ISIS conflict. These missions, coordinated through the World Food Program (WFP), became the largest parachute airdrop food relief effort ever carried out by the WFP, spanning 18 months of critical aid delivery.
After spending over two decades supporting those who serve—our military—I’m proud to now step into a role where I can serve my own community here in Ottawa.
Welcome to OPS special constable Bell!
