Rideshare driver charged with sexual assault; police seek other possible victims

(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service’s Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit (SACA) has arrested and charged an Ottawa resident with sexual offences following an investigation that commenced on July 25th, 2026: 

Mohamed LAAROUS, 36 years of age, is charged with one count of Sexual Assault. 

SACA investigators believe there could be other victims in and around the Ottawa area as LAAROUS was a rideshare driver for Uber and Lyft. 

Anyone with information is asked to call the Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit at 613-236-1222, extension 5944. Tips may also be sent electronically to [email protected]. 

Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS).
