Man arrested in fatal hit-and-run
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Tuesday, March 24, 2026 3:10 p.m.
(Ottawa)—The Ottawa Police Service has arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with this investigation.
The Ottawa Police Service extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Peter Clark, who tragically lost his life while serving as a school crossing guard. Crossing guards play a vital role in protecting children and families, standing in all conditions to ensure students can travel to and from school safely.
Mr. Clark’s commitment to that responsibility reflects a service to the community that deserves our utmost respect and gratitude. This is a heartbreaking loss, and our thoughts are with the school community and all those affected.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional information will be shared when available.

Seeking dark-coloured Ford F-150 from serious hit-and-run
(Ottawa)—The Ottawa Police Service is urgently seeking the public’s help following a serious hit-and-run collision involving a school crossing guard this morning.
At approximately 8:20 a.m., a man in his 50s was struck while on duty near an elementary school on Cedarview Road at Kennevale Drive. He was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver fled the scene.
Police are actively looking for a dark-coloured Ford F-150 believed to be involved.
Investigators would like to speak with anyone who witnessed the collision or may have dashcam footage of this incident and has not yet spoken to police.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Service Collision Investigations Unit at 613-236-1222 extension 2345.
