Six-year-old child dies after being found in water
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Thursday, May 28, 2026 7:50 p.m.
(Ottawa)—The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) is investigating the death of a six-year-old child that occurred this evening.
At approximately 5:10 p.m., the child was reported missing in the area of Riverside Drive and Hogs Back Road. A short time later, the child was located in the water and immediately brought to shore. Bystanders began lifesaving efforts before the child was transported to hospital.
Tragically, the child was later pronounced deceased at hospital.
Our thoughts are with the child’s family, loved ones, witnesses, and all those affected by this heartbreaking incident.
Support services have been made available to the child’s family and the emergency personnel involved in the response.
The investigation remains ongoing.
