Stabbing investigation on Rideau Street
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Thursday, June 4, 2026 3:15 p.m.
(Ottawa) —The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) has charged a man in relation to a stabbing that occurred yesterday on Rideau Street.
Just before 11 a.m., the victim was on the sidewalk in the 300 block of Rideau Street when a suspect approached and stabbed them in what appears to have been an unprovoked attack.
The victim sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
The Central Investigations Section has charged Mohamed Elhilo, 57, with one count each of:
- Assault Cause Bodily Harm
- Assault with a Weapon
- Possess weapon dangerous
- Carry conceal weapon
He appeared in court today.
