The Grinch who stole the Boys and Girls Club Van
Constable Christian Montpetit has always believed in giving back. Before becoming a police officer, he volunteered at a local Boys and Girls Club in Ottawa, supporting young people and families in his community. So when he heard that the Club’s delivery van had been stolen just days before the holidays, he knew the impact would be significant.
“They mentioned that their vehicle was stolen and that they relied on it to deliver food and toys to more than 40 families in Ottawa,” Cst. Montpetit explained. “So I jumped in to help.”
Determined to find a solution, Cst. Montpetit reached out to his colleagues. Along with Cst. Butterworth, Cst. Desousa, and Cst. Jiwa, he arranged to use vans from the Emergency Services Unit (ESU) to ensure the deliveries could still go ahead. The officers stepped in to ensure the Boys and Girls Club could spread holiday cheer to families who needed it most.
“Such great work was done by four of our members who came in on their own time and on their day off to help,” said Staff Sergeant Mozes.
This act of kindness is one example of the many ways members support their communities beyond their regular duties. It is a reminder that service does not end when a shift does, and that compassion, teamwork, and a desire to help others are values shared across the communities we serve.
