The Ottawa Police Service and Reconciliation
On this National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) is reflecting on the importance of acknowledging the past and committing to meaningful action for the future. It is a day to honour Survivors of residential schools, the children who never returned home, and the families and communities who continue to feel the impacts of these injustices.
As part of this ongoing journey, OPS is proud to announce the launch of a new dedicated webpage:ottawapolice.ca/reconciliation. This online space will highlight OPS reconciliation initiatives, share upcoming opportunities for Indigenous community engagement, and provide a place to learn more about how OPS is working in partnership with Indigenous peoples and organizations.
The launch of this webpage is an important step forward in sharing OPS’ reconciliation journey with the public. It also provides direct information on upcoming events, including recruitment opportunities for Indigenous community members in partnership with the Anishinabek Police Service.
We encourage community members to visit the webpage, learn more about these initiatives, and join us in supporting reconciliation in Ottawa.
