Homicide Unit investigating two suspicious deaths

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Saturday, August 22, 2026 7:35p.m.

(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service Homicide Unit and Sûreté du Québec are currently investigating the suspicious deaths of two Ottawa residents. 

Shortly before 1:00 a.m. on August 22, 2026, Sûreté du Québec responded to a single-vehicle collision, east on Highway 50 near Papineauville, Quebec. 

An individual was located inside the vehicle with injuries considered suspicious in nature. They were transported to a hospital and died shortly thereafter. 

As the investigation progressed, Sûreté du Québec requested assistance from the Ottawa Police Service. At approximately 11:09 a.m., Ottawa Police officers attended a dwelling on Guigues Avenue, in Ottawa.  

Upon entering, officers located a second deceased person. 

The identities of the deceased will not be released at this time pending notification of next of kin.  

Residents may notice an increased police presence in the area as investigators continue to gather evidence and speak with potential witnesses.  

There is no ongoing threat to public safety.
