Man arrested following sexual assault in Lowertown

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Wednesday, August 5 , 2026  1:50 p.m.

Ottawa – The Ottawa Police Service has arrested a man following a sexual assault that occurred in the Lowertown area on Sunday, August 2.

At approximately 8:00 a.m., an Ottawa Police officer was flagged down regarding a disturbance near the 400 block of Rideau Street.

The officer met with an adult female who reported that she had been approached from behind by an unknown man while walking. The suspect allegedly sexually assaulted her and attempted to expose himself.

The officer quickly located the suspect nearby and arrested him without incident.

Nasir Abdi Suldaan, 44 years of age, is charged with one count of Sexual Assault and Breach of Probation. 

He is scheduled to appear in court on August 18.
