Request for Reconsideration

An applicant who has obtained a police Vulnerable Sector Check may apply to have their record check reconsidered and have information excluded from the results.

This process is not suitable for the Criminal Record Check or Criminal Records and Judicial Matters Check because the process is for the purposes of non-convictions only. Individuals wishing to have information removed from their Criminal Record Check or Criminal Records and Judicial Matters Check can utilize the Parole Board of Canada's record suspension process.

Please note that our reconsideration panel takes the following criteria into account:

  • Date of the incident
  • The age of the applicant at the time of the incident
  • All information available to the police service that relates to the applicant, including Crown notes
  • Details of the incident, including any written information provided by the applicant or others who had contact with the individual at the time of the incident, if available

A request for reconsideration must be received by the Ottawa Police Service, in writing, within 60 days of the completion of the applicant's record check.

Please submit your written request, including any information and/or documentation that you believe may be of assistance to the reconsideration panel, to:
