Central NRT proactive traffic stop in Vanier results in two arrests
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Friday, March 13, 2026 9:35 a.m.
(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) has charged a man and a woman with multiple Criminal Code drug-related offences and Provincial Statute violations following a proactive traffic stop in the Vanier/Overbrook area on March 3.
At approximately 10:40 p.m., members of the Central Neighbourhood Resource Team (NRT) pulled over a vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act violation.
As a result of the interaction:
- A 28-year-old man was charged with:
- Highway Traffic Act offences
- Cannabis Control Act offences
- Liquor Licence and Control Act offences
- Firearm-related offences under the Criminal Code
- A 24-year-old woman was charged with an offence under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).
- A loaded firearm and controlled substances were seized.
The Guns and Gangs Unit has taken carriage of the file and is continuing the investigation.
