Six Years Later, Stolen Omega Watch Recovered
On June 28, 2019, Mr. Chavi Walsh woke to find his vehicles in his driveway had been broken into. Several items were stolen, including an Omega wristwatch valued at $4,500.
Over the next six years, Mr. Walsh regularly monitored advertisements from local pawn shops, hoping his watch would resurface.
On February 16, 2026 — six years later — he saw an Omega listed for sale at Crown Pawn Boutique on Rideau Street that he believed could be his. He contacted police to investigate.
Constable David Rawes spoke with the shop owner, advised him of the investigation, and arranged a meeting with Mr. Walsh the following week.
On February 20, 2026, Constable Benoit Joly attended the pawn shop and met with both parties. Using Mr. Walsh’s original receipt and the watch’s serial number, he confirmed it was the same Omega stolen in 2019.
The officers facilitated the return of the watch to Mr. Walsh.
Six years after it was taken, the watch was back where it belonged. Mr. Walsh later shared his appreciation, along with a photo of himself with the officers and his recovered timepiece.
