UPDATE: Man charged with first-degree murder in 2023 homicide on Farmers Way

(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) Homicide Unit has laid a charge in connection with the August 19, 2023 homicide of Granit Ahmeti.
On August 25, 2026, Richard Micks, 48, of the Georgian Bay area, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
Micks appears in court today.

Homicide investigation on Farmers Way: seeking video surveillance from area businesses and residents
(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service Homicide Unit is seeking assistance from residents and business owners in the area of Farmers Way.
Investigators are requesting that all residents and business owners in the area of Farmers Way, Anderson Road, Thunder Road and Piperville Road verify their video security systems for any suspicious activity between the hours of 2:00 am and 4:00 am on August 19th.

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service Homicide Unit is investigating a homicide that occurred in the 4000 block of Farmers Way early this morning.
Police and emergency responders were called to the area at approximately 3:45 a.m. after people witnessed a shooting.
Officers located a 26-year-old man, with gunshot wounds who has succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
