Neighbourhood Resource Teams

The Ottawa Police Service has Neighbourhood Resource Teams (NRT) that serve several Ottawa neighbourhoods, inluding:

  • Carlington
  • Vanier
  • East Suburban
  • West Suburban
  • Bayshore
  • Centretown
  • ByWard/Lowertown/Sandy Hill
  • South

The NRTs are comprised of experienced officers well-trained in crime prevention, problem-solving, and cultural understanding.

The NRTs are dedicated teams of officers who focus on developing public safety initiatives unique to each neighbourhood. This is done through work with community leaders and frontline partners, non-profit organizations, businesses, and the City of Ottawa. The goal is to meet you in your neighbourhood to develop plans to enhance community safety and well-being together.

Because NRT officers are assigned for a longer period of time in their area, it lets them build relationships and get to know the people they serve.

Our NRT officers are well-trained in crime prevention, dealing with emergencies, problem-solving, and cultural understanding. Each NRT includes Neighborhood officers, Youth officers, Community Police Officers (CPO), and Traffic officers.
