Fatal hit-and-run collision; police seeking witnesses and video involving dark-coloured SUV with front-end damage on right-side

Ottawa — The Ottawa Police Service is investigating a fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred in the area of West Hunt Club Road and Merivale Road.
At 5:56 a.m., on October 2nd, emergency crews responded to a report of a collision involving a motorcycle and a motor vehicle. The motorcyclist, a 21-year-old woman, was transported to hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
The vehicle involved in the collision left the scene before police arrived. Investigators are working to identify the vehicle and driver.
Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a dark-coloured SUV with front-end damage, believed to have been involved in the collision. The vehicle may have sustained visible front-end bumper damage on its right side.
Residents, motorists and businesses in the block surrounding the intersection of West Hunt Club Road and Merivale Road are asked to review any available dashcam, surveillance or doorbell camera footage from the time of the collision that may have captured the vehicle or its movements.
The Fatal Collision Investigation Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have dashcam or security camera footage that captured the collision, to come forward.
